Golden State Killer suspect makes arraignment appearance (Video)



Joseph James DeAngelo, better known as the Golden State Killer, was arraigned today and it was pretty standard fare. He was charged on two counts of murder for the deaths of Brian and Katie Maggiore and appointed a public defender and that was that.

Patton Oswalt to Discuss "I'll Be Gone In The Dark" in Sacramento and More True Crime Tidbits

True crime fans in Sacramento are in for a very special treat next week as Patton Oswalt is set to visit a Citrus Heights Barnes and Noble to discuss "I'll Be Gone In The Dark", written by his late wife Michelle McNamara. Oswalt has mentioned that he would love to sit down with Joseph James DeAngelo, the suspected Golden State Killer, and ask him all of the questions that McNamara will never have the chance to ask. I think that would be amazing. If you're in the Toronto area, mark your calendars for the Toronto True Crime Film Festival on June 8th and June 9th. Thomas Edward Luther Survivor Heather Smith Callahan On this day in 1982, a 21-year-old woman named Mary Brown accepted a ride from a man in the ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado. Upon entering the man's vehicle, she was raped and severely beaten with a claw hammer. Her attacker, Thomas Edward Luther, was traced through his truck and arrested. Thomas Edward Luther was born June 23, 1957, in Hardwick, Vermont, the eldest of five children. According to Luther, he was subjected to extreme verbal and physical abuse at the hands of his mother. By age 9, he had started drinking and by age 12, he was using drugs. It was also at age 12, Luther claimed, that he began having sex with an aunt. After his arrest for the assault on Mary Brown, he told psychiatrists that he attacked her because she resembled his abusive mother. He told a fellow inmate that "the next girl won't live.
