The Disappearance of Lori Ann Auker

On this day in 1989, 19-year-old Lori Ann Auker disappeared from Northumberland County, PA. Her car was found in the mall parking lot where she worked but she had failed to report for duty at the mall pet shop. Her body was found two and a half weeks later and it was apparent that she had been stabbed to death. Her husband, who had taken out an insurance policy on her and was battling her for custody of their son, was the main suspect in the case but police had little to go on. Then they realized that the crime may have been caught on an ATM camera. They were correct in their assumption and Robert Auker was convicted of his wife's murder in 1992. He is still sitting on death row.
